Job description

Emergency Services Technician I/II/III - Full Time-36hrs

Summary:

The Emergency Services Technician (EST) plays a crucial role in providing essential support to the healthcare team within the Emergency Department (ED). The EST is responsible for assisting healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care, maintaining a safe and organized environment, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the department. The EST demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations. This is a full-time, 36-hour seasonal/temporary position, with availability required from May 25th to October 25th.

Requirements

Education, Training or Certifications Required:

Level I

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and licensure or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program preferred.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.

Level II

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current listing on Maine CNA Registry
  • Advanced CNA training
  • BLS Certification

Level IIB

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a medical assistant program, with national CCMA, RMA or CMA certification.
  • BLS certification.

Level III

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently Licensed as a Maine Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced (EMT-A) or Paramedic.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS Certifications

Experience Required:

  • 1-3 years of emergency room experience preferred not required.

Special Requirements:

  • Basic computer skills preferred.

Cognitive Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing situations, and work as part of a team.

Physical Demands:

  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move patients, as well as stand for extended periods.

Environment:

  • Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Potential for exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Potential for periods of high stress.
