PEAKS Renewables focuses on business opportunities at the intersection of decarbonization and natural gas, including Renewable Natural Gas, Biogas, Renewable Hydrogen, and Power-to-Gas projects. As a subsidiary of Summit Utilities, which operates gas distribution companies in five states, PEAKS is actively developing several RNG and Hydrogen projects within and beyond Summit’s utility territories.

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an RNG Operations Technician (I, II, or III) based in Clinton, ME, with a $6,000 sign-on bonus!

Position Summary

This role is vital in operating a key renewable energy project in Maine. Responsibilities include operations and maintenance of facilities in Clinton and surrounding farms. The successful candidate should be willing to perform manual labor and eager to learn technical equipment and software.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform daily operations and maintenance of the plant, working with mechanical and electrical equipment such as mixers, pumps, compressors, gas purification systems, and pipelines.
  2. Respond to alarms, diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix plant malfunctions.
  3. Follow health and safety requirements, participate in safety audits and inspections.
  4. Achieve and maintain Operations Qualification (OQ) certification, passing necessary tests and evaluations.
  5. Maintain administrative records, including logbooks, drawings, manuals, inventory, and compliance forms.
  6. Operate motor vehicles or off-road vehicles on undeveloped terrain.
  7. Be willing and qualified to serve on the on-call rotation and work overtime, including outside normal hours, weekends, and holidays.
  8. Perform general site cleanup and adhere to safety practices.
Education and Work Experience

High School diploma or GED preferred. Experience varies by level:

  • Tech I: Experience with mechanical equipment such as pumps, mixers, and piping.
  • Tech II: At least 2 years at an RNG production facility or similar experience with relevant mechanical equipment.
  • Tech III: At least 4 years at an RNG production facility or equivalent experience with mechanical and measurement equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Technical degree in electrical or mechanical fields or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with gas compression and transportation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for team and partner relations.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Good time management, communication skills, and a strong work ethic.
  • Understanding of safety principles.

This position is covered under D.O.T. regulations and Summit’s Drug and Alcohol Policy, including random drug testing.
