Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL is seeking a Patient Care Technician II to support the Emergency Department with phlebotomy, patient care under RN supervision, and daily living activities. This full-time role involves 12-hour day shifts including weekends.

The candidate will have high school diploma or equivalent, formal clinical training (CMA/CNA/PCT/EMT or equivalent), BLS certification, and solid communication skills to ensure safe patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Formal clinical training (CMA, CNA, PCT, EMT, corpsman, paramedic, nursing/medical student experience).
• Maintains current BLS certification.
• Successful completion of institutional screening examination.
• Ability to solve simple problems.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Assists the RN in the delivery of patient care.
• Maintains a safe patient environment and priority setting.
• Participates in individualized plans of care under RN guidance.
• Assists patients in activities of daily living.
• Documents care in patient records in real time.
• Performs routine procedures, treatments and specimen collections.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique when necessary.
• Assists RN or physician with advanced procedures.
• Manages uncomplicated tubes and drains.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen labeling.
