Job summary

Gosnold, Inc. in Stoughton, MA is seeking an ED Navigator to engage patients in the hospital emergency department with substance use disorder or related conditions.

This 40-hour, on-site role supports recovery by guiding referrals to addiction-specific services and coordinating with hospital staff. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a counseling-related field and at least two years’ experience with SUD in a clinical setting, or three years of lived recovery experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a counseling related discipline or 1 year of related field experience.
• At least two years working with substance use disorder patients in a behavioral health clinical setting; three years of lived recovery may substitute.
• Ability to engage patients in a non-judgmental manner and communicate hope, respect, self-direction, and empowerment.
• Willingness to undergo certification training with a recognized Coaching Certification organization.

Responsibilities

• Engage with patients brought to the ER for SUD or related condition and refer to addiction-specific services.
• Conduct screening assessments to ascertain suitability for treatment referrals.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to maximize referral placement potential.
• Facilitate transfers to treatment settings with hospital staff support.
• Develop referral relationships with community resources across a wide geographic area.
• Conduct follow-up motivational calls to patients and families.
• Document in hospital records in compliance with privacy regulations.
• Work with hospital staff under ER physician and nursing management.
• Coordinate with social workers or navigators for warm handoffs during shifts.
• Report to the Gosnold Director of Recovery Management and the Chief of Emergency Medicine.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
