Job summary

Ochsner Health seeks a Substance Use Navigator to engage ED patients with substance use disorders, facilitate rapid linkage to treatment, and provide harm reduction information. You will collaborate with ED clinicians and social work teams to support care plans and patient outcomes, using trauma-informed, patient-centered approaches.

The role may require variable shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays, to support ED operations and program goals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Preferred degrees in Social Services, Behavioral Health, Public Health, or related field.
• Lived experience with substance use or recovery is encouraged and noted.

Responsibilities

• Conduct bedside engagement of ED patients with substance use concerns.
• Establish rapport and build trust with patients in crisis or ambivalent about treatment.
• Perform SBIRT activities and educate patients on treatment options.
