Job summary

McLeod Health is seeking a Front Desk Registration Clerk to welcome patients and manage initial intake activities. You will gather demographics, verify insurance, and schedule appointments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with patient privacy standards.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable with computer use, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of medical terminology or prior experience in healthcare.
• High school diploma or GED preferred from an accredited school.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
• Interview patients or responsible parties to obtain personal, demographic, insurance, and medical information prior to services; confirm and manage patient identity; understand compliance requirements and assist with forms.
• Correctly assign insurance coverages based on eligibility responses; explain plan benefits, authorization status, and medical necessity.
• Create a transparent financial experience by generating an estimate pre-service, explaining patient liability, and collecting prepayments and balances; discuss payment plans and Compassionate Care when appropriate.
• Correctly transcribe and validate orders and schedule walk-in appointments.
• Advocate for patient engagement, including activation of MyChart.
• Monitor the environment and attend to patients, families, and visitors’ needs for a positive, expeditious registration experience.
• Assist with wayfinding and connecting patients to care.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
