Job summary

Ascension is seeking staff for the Emergency Department at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita, KS. The role involves day-shift, 36 hours weekly (7:00am-7:00pm) in a fast-paced emergency setting, focusing on patient care, scene assessment and timely transport.

Minimum requirements include BLS, Kansas EMT credential, and a preference for Advanced Life Support. Supporting education options and tuition benefits are available through our academic partnerships.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience preferred.
• Associate's degree/Technical degree or 4 years of applicable experience accepted.
• EMT credential from Kansas is required; ALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support, treatment, care and evaluation of patients on scene and during transport.
• Arrive at the scene of an emergency, assess and plan action.
• Use appropriate medical equipment and gauge injury severity.
• Monitor patient condition and report findings to the RN.
• Assist with mobilization, ambulation and transport of patients.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Provide support treatment, care and evaluation of patients on scene and during transport.
• Arrive to the scene of an emergency, determine the situation, and develop a plan of action.
• Use appropriate medical equipment and comprehend the severity of the injury.
• Monitor patient condition and perform data collection. Communicate findings and patient condition to primary Registered Nurse (RN).
• Assist with the mobilization, ambulation and transport of patients.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services (KSBEMS) required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Drivers License credentialed from the Kansas Department of Motor Vehicles preferred.

Education

• High School Diploma equivalency required with 2 years of cumulative experience preferred. OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience.
