Essentia Health in Ada, MN is seeking an EMS Supervisor/Paramedic who will oversee day-to-day EMS operations, supervise staff, and split time between paramedic duties and field response. The role involves orientation, training, employee relations, and performance management while responding to emergencies and hospital codes.

The position requires Paramedic licensure (or RN), NIMS 100/200/700, BCLS, ACLS and PALS certifications, and a valid CDL where required.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years’ experience as a paramedic.
• State licensure/certification as Paramedic or RN.
• NIMS 100, 200, 700.
• ACLS and PALS certifications; BCLS certified.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision of EMS staff including scheduling, orientation and performance management.
• Assist EMS Leadership with planning and evaluating service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with Minnesota EMS regulations and standards.
• Provide advanced medical care and transport on scheduled or emergent calls; respond to hospital codes.
• Oversee vehicle/equipment inspections and supply stock; maintain readiness.

This position will also split their time as a Paramedic and be expected to respond to emergent and non-emergent calls and/or hospital codes and provide advanced medical support and care for patients.Education Qualifications:Key Responsibilities:Responsible for supervision of assigned staff including scheduling, orientation/training, employee relations and performance managementAssists Emergency Medical Services Leadership with planning and evaluating the delivery of servicesEvaluates, enforces clinical guidelines and departmental policies and proceduresProvides medical emergency services and transport when scheduled or as needed. It is anticipated a minimum of 50% of your time will be scheduled on primary ambulancesEnsures compliance with MNDOT and the Minnesota Office of EMS regulations and standardsOversee the inspection of vehicles and equipment to ensure appropriate maintenance in completed and proper stock is on handResponds to emergent and non-emergent calls and/or hospital codes and provides medical support and care for patients in the pre-hospital and/or hospital environmentProvides advanced medical care and basic life support service to patients using appropriate medical equipment, devices and treatment modalitiesMay be requested to provide patient care in the hospital setting performing tasks delegated by the RN based on the scope of the individual’s training and capabilitiesDriver Requirements:Must have 2 years drivers experience (MVR)Over 75 years of age require medical permissionDrivers 21 years and older with Paramedic licensure, must meet MVR requirementsDrivers 18-20 with Paramedic licensure, must meet MVR requirements of Young Driver Probation AND will be placed in Young Driver Probation (MVR every 6 months and completed probation form)Non-Ambulance Driver Requirements:The minimum driver age is 21 years old, must meet MVR requirements (duplicate)Drivers 75 years of age require medical permission to drive (duplicate)Must have 2 years driving experience (MVR) (duplicate)All drivers must have valid CDL, where requiredRequired Qualifications:State Background check must provide clearance to work with vulnerable adults• Minimum of two years’ experience as a paramedicNIMS 100, 200, 700Over 75, need to have medical permissionLicensure/Certification Qualifications:State licensure/certification a Paramedic or a Registered Nurse.
