Job summary

Essentia Health’s Ada EMS is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to respond to emergent and non-emergent calls, provide on-scene and transit care, and communicate patient status to hospital staff. The role may include hospital-based tasks delegated by an RN according to training.

Shift rotations include Day/Eve/Night in the United States; compensation ranges from $22.63 to $31.69 per hour. Part-time 0.6 FTE with comprehensive benefits, tuition reimbursement, and wellness programs are offered.

Qualifications

• State background check must provide clearance to work with vulnerable adults
• NIMS 100, 200, 700
• Must have 2 years drivers experience (MVR)
• Over 75 years of age require medical permission
• Drivers 21 years and older with EMS licensure, must meet MVR requirements
• Drivers 18-20 with EMS licensure, must meet MVR requirements of Young Driver Probation AND will be placed in Young Driver Probation (MVR every 6 months and completed probation form)
• State licensure/certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or higher in the appropriate state of practice
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within one month of hire
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as verified through appropriate licensing agency
• All Wisconsin location staff must be dual licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin

• Obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and assesses the situation's urgency and seriousness.
• Provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital.
• Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness.
• Communicates with the medical care facility about the patient's condition, status and time of arrival.
• May be requested to provide patient care in the hospital setting performing tasks delegated by the RN based on the scope of the individual’s training and capabilities.
