County Emergency Communications in Smithton, PA is seeking Emergency Medical Dispatchers to support urgent medical responses. You will receive calls, verify locations, gather information, and determine response priorities using approved protocols.

This role may require night or weekend shifts, overtime, and staying current with CPR and dispatcher certifications; training is provided where needed.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or recognized equivalent is commonly required.
• Employers may sponsor training or require current Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification.
• CPR certification and additional coursework may be required; EMT or paramedic credentials are not universal.

Responsabilités

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition.
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
