Job summary

County Emergency Communications seeks qualified EMS dispatchers to manage critical calls from a centralized console. You will verify location data, gather patient information, and determine dispatch priorities using approved protocols.

You’ll coordinate ambulance resources and relay vital details to responders while documenting actions for quality assurance. This role may involve overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules with overtime as needed to ensure continuous emergency

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; selected applicants may undergo sponsored training.
• Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification may be required before appointment.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm patient location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about patient condition to assess priority.
• Determine response priority through the dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources as assigned.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responders.
• Document call processing and participate in quality reviews.
