Job summary

University Hospitals in Elyria is seeking an Emergency Management Officer to coordinate the Emergency Preparedness Program, including the Emergency Operations Manual, training, and exercises. This full-time, day-shift position requires leadership in hospital-wide emergency planning and regional collaboration.

The role includes maintaining the Emergency Operations Plan, planning drills, grant management, and incident response.

Qualifications

  • Well versed in OSHA, JCAHO, NFPA, fire and building codes and their interpretations/applications.
  • Able to develop and conduct education programs.
  • Working knowledge of hazardous materials protocols/procedures and bioterrorism/disaster preparedness.
  • Personal computers and database program knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of FEMA Incident Command System.
  • Detailed knowledge of all levels of incident command system.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continually update the Emergency Operations Plan.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate disaster drills and/or events to improve hospital readiness.
  • Represent hospital at regional coalition meetings and regional exercises.
  • Manage grant funding opportunities and maintain grant funded inventory.
  • Document after action reviews and track compliance with improvement plans.
  • Maintain inventory of all disaster related equipment and PPE.
  • Prepare and execute training in hospital incident command and specialized response teams such as the HERT Team.
  • Respond and support emergency/incidents as they occur.

Emergency Management Officer - ( 260007MD )



  • Full time

  • Day shift

  • Located at our Elyria Medical Center with travel to other locations as needed


A Brief Overview

Coordinate Emergency Preparedness Program including the Emergency Operations Manual, training, and exercises.


What You Will Do


  • Maintain and continually update the Emergency Operations Plan (25%)

  • Plan, execute, and evaluate disaster drills &/or events to improve hospital readiness (30%)

  • Represent hospital at regional coalition meetings and regional exercises (10%).

  • Manage grant funding opportunities and maintain grant funded inventory (10%).

  • Document after action reviews and track compliance with improvement plans (10%).

  • Maintain inventory of all disaster related equipment and PPE (5%).

  • Prepare and execute training in hospital incident command and specialized response teams such as the HERT Team. (5%)

  • Respond and support emergency/incidents as they occur (5%)


Additional Responsibilities


  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.


Education


  • Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management (Required) or

  • 3-5 years additional fire department experience accepted in lieu of degree (Required)


Work Experience


  • 3+ years experience in Emergency management field (Required)


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
