Job summary

The City of Sacramento seeks an experienced Program Specialist (Emergency Management Coordinator) to lead all-hazard training, exercises, and resource management within the Office of Emergency Management. The role coordinates with federal, state, and local agencies and supports the City's Command Operations Center.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong briefing, communication, and organizational skills, and collaborate effectively with executive leaders and diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible professional-level administrative experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration or a closely related field.
• Proficiency with mass notification systems and related communication services desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise activities of a major department or Citywide program with moderate visibility and impact.
• Consult with department heads, division managers, and external agencies and media as needed.
• Monitor program compliance, develop guidelines and procedures, and prepare reports on performance and grants.
• Identify program or system enhancements and coordinate installation of new components.
• Provide exceptional customer service to those contacted in the course of work.
