Job summary

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is seeking Emergency Wage Rate Operators for an on-call snow removal program to keep Missouri roads safe and accessible. The job involves operating plow vehicles and spreading ice control materials in varying weather conditions. Hourly rates vary by season, with an additional $1 per hour for night work (7 p.m.

– 7 a.m.). Overtime and night shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or B with no air brake restrictions and interstate status (EI or NI).
• Criminal background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Operates plow trucks to remove snow and spread ice control materials, and to warn oncoming traffic.
• Performs routine vehicle and equipment maintenance and upkeep.
• Ensures safe traffic flow around work zones and assists with related tasks as needed.

Job description

This is an on-call position – hours will vary depending on weather events. The hourly rate is dependent on area of operation and seasons plowing, with an additional $1 hour for night work (7 p.m. – 7 a.m.).

Emergency Wage Rates

• 1st Season: $23.00 - $26.00
• 2nd -3rd Season: $24.11 – $27.11
• 4th Season: $25.37 - $28.37

What You'll Do

• Operates vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials or to warn oncoming traffic. Cleans and performs routine maintenance on vehicles, equipment, buildings and grounds. Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with no air brake restrictions and interstate status (either Excepted Interstate [EI] or Non-Excepted Interstate [NI]).
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen

Special Working Conditions:

• Job may require overtime and night time work.
• Job requires outdoor work that involves exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment, including risk of physical injury from carrying out duties in heavy traffic areas, on or near heavy equipment or machinery, and with hazardous chemicals or materials
