Job summary

MoDOT is seeking an on-call Emergency Maintenance Equipment Operator to perform snow removal on Missouri roads and ensure citizens can travel safely to their destinations. You will operate plow trucks, spread ice control materials, and perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Hours vary with weather events; night work adds a premium of $1 per hour. CDL A or B with no air brake restrictions is required, and a background check and drug screen will be conducted.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• CDL Class A or B with no air brake restrictions and interstate status (EI or NI).
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Operates vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials or to warn oncoming traffic.
• Cleans and performs routine maintenance on vehicles, equipment, buildings and grounds.
• Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Job description

This is an on-call position – hours will vary depending on weather events. The hourly rate is dependent on area of operation and seasons plowing, with an additional $1 hour for night work (7 p.m. – 7 a.m.).

EMERGENCY WAGE RATES:

• 1st Season: $23.00 - $26.00
• 2nd -3rd Season: $24.11 – $27.11
• 4th Season: $25.37 - $28.37

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with no air brake restrictions and interstate status (either Excepted Interstate [EI] or Non-Excepted Interstate [NI]).
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen

Special Working Conditions:

• Job may require overtime and night time work.
• Job requires outdoor work that involves exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment, including risk of physical injury from carrying out duties in heavy traffic
  areas, on or near heavy equipment or machinery, and with hazardous chemicals or materials
