Job summary

The University of Georgia is seeking a Small Animal Emergency Front Desk - Student Worker to be the first point of contact for clients bringing pets for emergency care. Responsibilities include receiving incoming patients and providing assistance regarding veterinary services.

This position requires customer service experience and knowledge of office software. The work schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and caps at 20 hours per week. The offered salary is $15 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, general office, veterinary animal care, or hospital setting.
• Knowledge of office equipment and multi‑window software applications, including Vetview database.
• Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook).
• Typing speed 35 words per minute or higher.
• Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced environment requiring multitasking under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Punctuality and attendance are critical.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact via phone or in person for clients bringing pets for emergency care or referred by a local veterinarian.
• Provide assistance to clients regarding veterinary services, communicating hospital charges and policies.
• Receive incoming patients at the Emergency front desk and route calls to appropriate care teams.
• Assist in triage of patients, completing patient profile information for level‑of‑care determination.
• Enter patient information into the hospital database system Vetview to create a chart for service charges.
