Job summary

Midwood EMS in Brooklyn is seeking experienced Emergency Medical Dispatchers to support our 24/7 EMS operations from our Coney Island headquarters. You will coordinate with hospitals, crews, patients and family members to arrange rapid, safe transport.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of medical terminology, excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task under pressure.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships across departments.
• Availability to work afternoons, nights, weekends and holidays (24/7 operations).

Responsibilities

• Working directly with hospitals, healthcare providers, facilities, patients and caretakers to arrange transport.
• Verifying patients' insurance coverage.
• Answering and making phone calls.
• Collecting insurance information for billing.
• Processing credit card payments.
• Dispatching calls using radio codes and practices.
