Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is seeking an Emergency Medical Dispatcher - Per Diem to join its Operations Center team in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The Dispatcher coordinates EMS responses, triages requests, and ensures timely deployment of units and resources across shifts, supporting interagency coordination and critical patient transport.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, Emergency Medical Dispatch certification within 3 months, CPR certification, and preferred EMS or CAD

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification within 3 months of hire.
• CPR Certification required.
• EMS experience strongly preferred.
• CAD systems experience preferred.
• Dispatcher experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates communications skills and exercises judgment under pressure while operating EMS CAD equipment.
• Oversees all radio communications and monitors AVL, GPS, and CCTV.
• Operates radios, telecoms, CAD/EMD software.
• Receives calls, triages ambulance assignments, and provides online first aid instructions.
• Maintains policy-compliant radio transmissions and incident documentation in CAD.
• Coordinates EMS staff deployment and unit coordination; maintains situational awareness.
• Monitors emergencies, weather events, and interagency activity during incidents.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the department.
