Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn is seeking an Emergency Medical Dispatcher - Per Diem to join the Operations Center. The dispatcher receives triage and dispatch requests for EMS and coordinates deployment of EMS staff and units during shifts.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, EMS dispatch certification within 3 months, CPR, and preferred CAD experience and prior dispatcher experience. This role requires strong communication under pressure and ability to coordinate with multiple

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; EMD certification within 3 months.
• CPR certification required.
• EMS experience and CAD familiarity preferred.
• Dispatcher experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate EMS CAD equipment to receive and transmit emergency information accurately.
• Oversee Emergency Operations Center and monitor radio communications with FDNY, NYULH, OEM and REMSCO.
• Use radios, terminals and CAD/EMD software to support dispatch.
• Triages ambulance assignments and provide on-line first aid instructions as needed.
• Ensure transmissions comply with FCC rules and established procedures.
• Maintain situational awareness of incidents and coordinate EMS unit responses.
• Document incidents and coordinate with supervisors for corrective action.
• Maintain equipment and coordinate with management to ensure uninterrupted service.
