Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Emergency Department Support technician to assist physicians and nurses in patient care, perform phlebotomy, transport patients, and document care in the EHR. You will coordinate communications among staff and ensure safety and cleanliness in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have basic EHR skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and at least 1 year of experience.

Qualifications

High School Graduate required.
Typically requires 1 year experience.
BLS certification to be obtained within 6 months.
Nurse Aide or EMT license required as applicable.
Annual educational requirements for hospital certifications must be maintained.

Responsibilities

Assist physicians and nurses with patient care tasks.
Document procedures and communicate findings to the nurse.
Process daily patient charges and related EHR entries.
Coordinate communications across phone, paging, electronic, and EMS systems.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow safety policies.
Monitor and troubleshoot equipment; arrange major repairs as needed.
Assist with patient positioning and transporting with proper lifting techniques.
Provide age-appropriate care and adapt to patient needs per department standards.
