Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Student Nurse Extern I for May 24 – July 31, 2027. This temporary full-time externship is for prelicensure nursing students who will work with an RN partner within the Emergency Department team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
• Anticipated nursing program graduation within 12 months.
• BLS certification required or in process.

Responsibilities

• Observes, collects, and documents patient information during care.
• Assists in patient admission, orientation, and discharge processes.
• Provides routine direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision.
• Supports care activities such as vital signs, hygiene, and basic procedures.
