Job summary

Covenant Health’s Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Department Patient Registration Specialist to support 24/7 registration operations. This full-time role handles rapid ED registrations, gathers demographic and financial details, verifies insurance, and collects payments with accuracy.

The position requires strong customer service skills, adherence to EMTALA guidelines, and effective communication with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months customer-facing experience.
• Preference for a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• No licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Performs the Quick Registration process for Emergency Department encounters in a timely manner.
• Coordinates front desk patient flow and notifies the triage/charge nurse of urgent patient situations.
• Accurately completes full registration gathering demographic and financial information per EMTALA guidelines.
• Collects co-payments/deposits, issues receipts, and forwards cash transactions to cashier.
• Uses the electronic signature system to complete forms and explains consent, advance directives, and Medicare forms to patients.
