Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician III for the Night Shift in the Emergency Department. Under licensed supervision you will assist with patient care, monitor vital signs, perform EKGs/POC tests, and support the healthcare team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include aiding with daily living activities, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining equipment and records. A high school diploma and BLS are required, with 1 year of acute care or EMT experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• 1 year of acute care/hospital experience or EMT/paramedic experience.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Medical terminology and basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities; able to stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under licensed clinician direction, including monitoring and reporting patient status.
• Perform vital signs, measure height/weight, and conduct basic EKGs and POC tests.
• Assist with activities of daily living and safe patient positioning and transport.
• Assist with treatments, setup equipment, and sterile techniques when indicated.
• Support unit operations, documentation, and communication with the care team.
