Job summary

Centerpoint Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Educator to enhance professional practice by delivering evidence-based educational programs for nursing and allied staff. The role emphasizes onboarding, retention, and competency development in a dynamic hospital setting.

The educator will design and evaluate training activities, promote lifelong learning, and collaborate with Clinical Professional Development leadership to align programs with institutional goals. Travel up to 25% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
• Master’s degree in nursing preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in clinical education, CSC, academia or leadership preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in acute care hospital preferred.
• Current RN license in the state of practice or active compact state license required.
• Nationally recognized specialty certification preferred.
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) required.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Participates in onboarding and orientation program development for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
• Provides orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
• Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Professional Development to adjust the program based on evaluation results.
• Manages competency development and evaluation for staff.
• Designs educational activities to address practice gaps for licensed and non-licensed personnel.
• Develops activities to achieve outcomes related to knowledge, skill, and practice deficiencies.
• Promotes evidence-based practice to improve patient care and participates in research, EBP, and QI.
• Utilizes a novice-to-expert continuum to guide staff skill enhancement.
