Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk in eastern Long Island is hiring a Nurse Aide II for the Emergency Department. This full-time night shift runs 7 PM to 7 AM with alternating weekends.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• De-escalation training required
• EMT certificate or nursing student status considered
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Responsibilities

• Observes the patient and relays information and any changes to the appropriate nursing personnel
• Observes the patient and reports any reaction or change in condition to the nurse in a timely manner
• Assists the patient in activities of daily living and hygiene, adapting care to individual needs
• Provides direct nursing care: vital signs, baths, Foley care, enemas per policy
• Demonstrates turning/positioning under RN direction to maintain skin integrity
• Distributes nourishment, assists with feeding, documents intake
• Maintains patient flow into examination areas with initiative
• Assists with emergencies as needed including CPR under RN direction
• Notifies RN of patient pain and assists with relief measures
• Accurately collects and labels specimens per procedure
• Processes specimens for transportation/analysis per infection control procedures
• Prepares patient equipment and maintains sterile/clean environment
• Supports patient safety and comfort; adheres to aseptic techniques
• Ensures patient call bells are answered and coordinates with staff
• Follows universal precautions for infection control
