Job summary

UPMC West Shore in Mechanicsburg, PA, is seeking a Patient Care Technician - Specialist for the Emergency Department. This role supports nurses and physicians by delivering routine patient care, assisting with ADLs, documenting in the medical records, and ensuring safety and efficient unit operation during night shifts.

The position is part-time (24 hours per week year round), with a night schedule (7pm–7am) and requirements for every 3rd weekend and every other holiday.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2-years of general healthcare experience with phlebotomy/venipuncture.
• 1 year of experience and enrollment in PT/OT/PA/RN program or related healthcare training with at least one clinical rotation.
• 1 year of experience and completion of a bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field.

Responsibilities

• Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Assures equipment malfunctions are reported to the appropriate department and maintains effective communication with other departments.
• Establishes professional and respectful interpersonal relationships and contributes to universal unit activities.
• Demonstrates clear communication with health care team and supports safety policies.
