Job summary

UPMC East is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Technician Senior to support the Emergency Department. The role involves core nursing assistant tasks, advanced clinical duties, and active participation in safety and documentation, under RN guidance.

The position operates on 2 rotating 12-hour shifts weekly, offering opportunities for professional development and growth within a fast-paced ED setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have either 2 years of general healthcare experience and meet Patient Care Technician title requirements, or 1 year of experience with enrollment in PT/OT/PA program with rotation, or 1 year with health sciences bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform ADLs and vital signs.
• Conduct phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG, simple dressings, Foley care, IV insertion/removal.
• Transports patients and medications within departments.
• Document in medical record and follow safety policies.
• Maintain communication with RN and other departments.
• Provide patient and family education under RN direction.
