Qualifications

• Degree in Health Information Management or AHIMA/AAPC certification required.
• RHIA/RHIT or CCS/CCA/CPC certification required within six months of hire.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT coding, E/M coding and medical terminology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience with hospital outpatient coding is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT/HCPCS codes for ED services.
• Ensure coding accuracy in line with guidelines and payor requirements.
• Adopt initiatives to improve compliance and reduce risk.
• Communicate with providers to resolve documentation issues and may train staff.
