Job summary

Mount Sinai West is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Emergency Department Float Pool to provide comprehensive nursing care through assessment, planning, and intervention. This role works in a collaborative, high-acuity environment and supports patient progress and discharge planning.

The position requires a BSN, 1+ year RN experience (Med/Surg Telemetry preferred), and NY RN licensure with BCLS, ACLS, and PALS; Neonatal Resuscitation is preferred for certain units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is required.
• 1+ year of RN experience is required; Med/Surg Telemetry experience is highly preferred.
• Current RN License in New York. BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required; Neonatal Resuscitation Program is preferred for some departments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments based on interviews, examinations, and records.
• Ensure progress notes and care plans reflect patient status and updates.
• Perform discharge planning aligned with patient condition.
• Communicate information to patients according to their readiness to learn.
• Support orientation of new staff as a preceptor and mentor.
