Job summary

Phelps Health is seeking an Emergency Department Technician – Level 1 to provide direct patient care under supervision and assist with ED operations. The role includes vital signs, EKGs, specimen collection, wound care, and transport, with leadership duties as ED Lead Tech when needed.

The position requires strong communication, time management, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support required.
• CEVO certification completed within 90 days of hire or as classes allow.
• Missouri Class E driver's license within 90 days of hire as applicable.
• MANDT training is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct and indirect patient care activities to support patient safety and care quality.
• Handles vital signs, 12-lead EKGs, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, ADL support, wound care, exams and procedures setup.
• Transport within and outside the department; monitor patient status and assist with room turnover.
• May function as ED Lead Tech to coordinate team communication and task completion.
• Communicates with patients and staff to reduce barriers and ensure proper patient flow and safety.
• Documents information in the medical record accurately and timely.
• Participates in education, competency testing, audits, and data collection.
