Job summary

Sentara Hospitals in Woodbridge, VA is hiring an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) to assist physicians, advance practice providers, and nurses in implementing care plans for emergency and minor emergency patients.

You will perform patient procedures and treatments under supervision, with required de-escalation training and BLS certification within specified timelines. The role offers inpatient or outpatient ED work and serves as a gateway into the medical field.

Qualifications

• EMT-B certification at time of hire OR Military Hospital Corps School OR current student enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester within the program.
• Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients.
• Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse.
• De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire. BLS certification within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.

• As an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) with Sentara, you can work in either inpatient or outpatient Emergency Department settings.
