Job summary

Mount Carmel Health is hiring an Emergency Department Technician to provide compassionate patient care in the Columbus area. The role supports ED operations during 12-hour night shifts, with rotating weekends and holidays, and emphasizes timely responses, patient transport, and data collection.

Requirements include a high school diploma and completion of approved courses covering patient care, EKG, phlebotomy, and BLS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of approved course with basic patient care skills, EKG phlebotomy, and BLS.
• Previous patient care experience preferred.
• Effective communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient needs in a timely manner.
• Transportation and patient escort.
• Performs visual acuity, eye irrigations and equipment setups.
• Performs phlebotomy and obtains lab specimens as ordered.
• Follows protocols and participates as team member for trauma, stroke, heart and sepsis alerts, and resuscitation.
• Performs wound care and sterile technique where appropriate.
• Performs suture and staple removal, excluding facial region.
• Performs foley care and collects specimens.
• Performs EKG.
• Collects and documents patient data, e.g. vital signs, weight, procedures performed.
• Reports observations and condition changes to RN and/or physician in a timely manner.
