Job summary

Mount Carmel New Albany is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to provide patient care in a fast-paced ED, supporting trauma, stroke, heart and sepsis alerts while maintaining patient comfort and safety.

The role requires high school diploma and completion of basic patient care/EKG/phlebotomy/BLS with prior care experience preferred. Shifts are 12 hours from 7am–7:30pm, three per week with rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of approved course(s) including basic patient care skills, EKG phlebotomy, and BLS.
• Previous patient care experience and/or health-related education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient needs in a timely manner.
• Transportation and patient escort.
• Performs visual acuity, eye irrigations and equipment setups.
• Performs phlebotomy and collects lab specimens as ordered.
• Follows protocols and participates in trauma, stroke, heart and sepsis alerts, and resuscitation.
• Performs wound care and sterile technique where appropriate.
• Performs suture and staple removal, excluding facial region.
• Performs foley care and collects specimens.
• Performs EKG.
• Collects and documents patient data (vital signs, weight, procedures).
• Reports observations and condition changes to RN/physician promptly.
