Job summary

MaineGeneral Health seeks an Emergency Department Technician to support nurses and providers at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta and the Thayer Center for Health in Waterville. This 36-hour/week role requires cross-training across campuses and variable shifts based on departmental needs.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, assisting with emotional and physical needs, and performing ECGs, splinting, and specimen collection. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold CNA certification with Maine Registry or Direct Care Workers credentials or an EMT license (Maine)
• Experience in Emergency Department, acute-care, medical-surgical, or hospital setting preferred
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care activities within scope of practice and assists with patients’ emotional, physical and spiritual needs
• Greets patients and visitors; answers, screens, and routes calls; communicates codes, pages, and announcements as needed
• Performs delegated technical procedures (ECGs, splinting, specimen collection)
• Maintains unit and patient room stock, cleanliness, and orderliness
