Job summary

Jefferson Regional Med Ctr is seeking an Emergency Department Security Officer (as-needed) to ensure safety for patients, visitors and staff. The role covers emergencies, enforcing hospital policies, and coordinating with local law enforcement and EMS.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, police officer certification, firearm certification, and BLS/CPR. Prior healthcare security experience is preferred and the position operates within the Safety and Security Department of

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical or Associate Degree in law enforcement, social science, physiology, or other related fields preferred.
• BLS/CPR required upon hire or within 30 days of hire.
• Certified Police Officer with a valid law enforcement certification required.
• Firearm Certification required.
• This is a safety sensitive position.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and manage conflicts.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and respond quickly to emergencies
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations regarding safety, security, and patient confidentiality
• Strong knowledge of emergency procedures, de-escalation techniques, and conflict resolution
• Current and active police officer
• Minimum 1 year of experience in law enforcement
• Preferred 1 year of supervisory experience in a health care environment or other setting.
• Knowledge of security operations and protocols in healthcare or hospital environments
• Experience in hospital or healthcare security preferred

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff in the ED.
• Respond to emergencies and deescalate tense situations.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, local law enforcement, and emergency services.
• Enforce hospital policies and procedures.
