Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• Experience in healthcare or patient registration is a plus.
• Familiarity with insurance verification and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families professionally and compassionately.
• Register patients for emergency services and collect required information.
• Verify patient identity and insurance details, updating records as needed.
• Explain and obtain signatures on consent forms while noting any limitations.
• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for billing.
• Collect co-pays and inform patients of financial obligations.
• Assist with understanding insurance requirements and questions.
• Document thoroughly when patient cannot sign forms and when a family member signs.
• Ensure proper insurance plan codes for accurate payment.
• Compile paperwork for quick retrieval and processing of visits.
• Place patient armband for identification throughout stay.
• Notify departments and physicians of patient arrival and delays.
• Maintain communication during codes and emergencies.
• Perform other duties and maintain reliable attendance.
• Comply with all policies and standards.
