Merit Health Natchez is seeking an ER Registrar to manage patient intake and registration in the Emergency Department. You will gather personal, insurance, and medical information, ensure accuracy of records, and deliver high-quality customer service to patients and families.

You will support billing accuracy through insurance verification, identify proper plan codes, and document consents, while coordinating with clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth department operations.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• Experience in patient registration and front desk operations is a plus.
• Familiarity with insurance verification and medical terminology is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Register patients for emergency services and collect required personal, insurance, and medical information.
• Verify patient identity and insurance details and update records as needed.
• Explain and obtain signatures on consent forms; document if patient cannot sign.
• Verify insurance coverage and plan codes for accurate billing.
• Collect co-pays/deductibles when applicable and explain financial obligations.
• Inform patients about insurance requirements and resolve related questions.
• Maintain accurate documentation for quick retrieval of patient visits.
• Place patient armbands for proper identification throughout stay.
• Notify relevant departments of patient arrival and coordinate care.
