Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of registration, patient access, or healthcare clerical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Registers ED patients with complete demographics and insurance information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits at time of service.
• Obtains consent signatures and HIPAA/financial documents.
• Collects co-pays, deductibles and balances when appropriate.
• Greets patients and explains registration and financial responsibilities.
• Escalates issues to leadership as needed.
• Ensures EMTALA/HIPAA compliance and smooth patient flow in ED.
