Job summary

FMOL Health is seeking an organized Patient Access Representative 1 - ED (PAR 1) to register patients in the Emergency Department, including trauma and stroke patients. The role requires validating identity, collecting screening information, coordinating with ED nurses for triage, verifying insurance, and handling co-pays and balances with EMTALA and No Surprises Act compliance.

Qualifications

• 1 year customer service experience or related certification (e.g. Certified Coder, Certified Medical Assistant)
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Advanced clerical and computer skills, critical thinking skills, ability to work in high-stress situations, professional appearance and behavior, good communication skills, dependability, flexibility, teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately in the ED and verify identity.
• Coordinate trauma, stroke and heart-alert registrations for timely triage.
• Explain forms and obtain patient signatures where required.
• Document encounters in account notes for cross-functional communication.
• Balance cash and collect payments as part of financial responsibilities.
• Monitor waiting room and support patient flow.
• Communicate with patients, families, EMS, RNs and providers.
