Qualifications

• Education and Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent; college courses in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred.
• Work Experience: 2 years insurance/clerical experience in hospital or medical office preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: English literacy; basic PC use; data entry; strong customer service; ability to multi-task and problem-solve.

Responsibilities

• Register emergency department patients quickly and accurately, creating accounts within 90 seconds of arrival.
• Enter patient demographics and insurance information into the registration system.
• Obtain physician orders for observation or admission when needed.
• Perform insurance eligibility/benefit verification using electronic data interchange (EDI).
• Collect patient co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, and deposits at discharge.
• Maintain coverage of the registration area and support clinical partners as needed.
