Cape Fear Valley Health System is seeking an ED Registration Clerk at Bladen Hospital in Elizabethtown, NC. You will rapidly register patients in a high-traffic emergency department, verify demographics, and document insurance and guarantor details.
Responsibilities include collecting payments, updating records, and ensuring patient safety with accurate armbands. Prior experience in hospital registration is preferred, and strong communication is essential.
Summary: Registers all patients in the adult and pediatric emergency departments. Completes the registration process for emergency patients and direct admits sent to the emergency department. Collects patient liabilities upon discharge from the emergency department.

Education and Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent required College courses in Business, Medical Office Administration, Health Care Administration, and/or Computer Technology preferred
Work Experience: 2 years insurance/clerical experience within a hospital or medical office setting preferred
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language Knowledge of insurance and collection of payments preferred Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and basic functionality of personal computer Ability to type and perform data entry functions Excellent verbal and written communication skills Customer service skills to a variety of customers from different cultural and economic backgrounds preferred Critical thinking skills and ability to problem-solve and multi-task Ability to appropriately handle complexity and stress with the changing needs of the patients, families, visitors, and the Health System
Ability to communicate orally, see, and hear to collect information Manual dexterity to operate office equipment Subject to eyestrain due to the many hours spent looking at a computer screen Sitting or standing in intervals for long periods of time Noise level is low to moderate Answers telephone calls, uses personal computer, and other business machines extensively Bends, reaches, pushes and pulls file drawers to file records and reports Ability to transport patients and assist with baggage Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
