Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a clinically competent RN-Emergency Department shift coordinator for part-time night shifts. The role leads daily ED operations, coordinates nursing care, and ensures patient safety and regulatory compliance.

You will interact with patients and families, guide staff, and participate in process improvements. The ideal candidate holds a BSN, has 3+ years of RN experience in an ED setting, and is licensed in Illinois with BLS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Minimum 3 years RN experience.
• Licensed RN in the State of Illinois.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Telemetry competency.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent English communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and coordination for emergency department nursing care.
• Coordinate staffing and daily operations for the ED shift.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and patient safety throughout the shift.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and health care team members.
• Assist in orientation and training of new staff and students.
• Assist with unit performance improvement and efficient workflow.
