Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Emergency Department Technician/Paramedic to provide direct patient care in the ED, monitor patients, perform order-set treatments, and support physicians and nurses during procedures.

The role requires an EMT license (P) with BLS, a high school diploma, and CERT Basic Life Support. ACLS/PALS are preferred. Shifts are 7a–3p with an every-third-weekend rotation; benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Current EMT P license without restrictions or EMT B within at least one (1) year relative experience in a similar capacity; including, but not limited to: Military experience, private ambulance company, fire department or healthcare setting
• High School graduate or equivalent
• CERT Basic Life Support

Responsibilities

• The Paramedic functions under the direction of the Emergency Nurse (RN) and Physician, collects pertinent data and reports clinical findings to the RN/Physician, assists patients with basic care needs, and prioritizes care under supervision.
• Administers treatments and various procedures within scope of practice, monitors vital signs, attaches cardiac monitor, obtains ECG, supports OB/GYN care, prepares sterile technique supplies, and assists with wound care and phlebotomy as ordered.
