Job summary

GBMC HealthCare seeks a Registration Clerk to interview and register patients presenting to the Emergency Department, gathering insurance details and preparing admission forms. Position requires proficient data entry, patient interaction, and accuracy across multiple hospital systems.

Preferred candidates have 1–2 years in similar roles, knowledge of medical terminology, and CHAA certification. Ability to work calmly in high‑pressure situations and strong teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Medical Terminology class preferred.
• CHAA certification preferred.
• 1–2 years related experience preferred; 6 months to 1 year ED experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service and data-entry skills required.

Responsibilities

• Completes arrival and registration for patients with urgent/emergency needs.
• Verifies demographics and insurance information; collects payments.
• Operates Epic and other hospital systems for registration and records.
• Escorts patients to waiting areas and assists clinical staff as needed.
• Collaborates with multiple departments to ensure patient flow and accuracy.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to EMTALA and HSCRC regulations.
