Job summary

County Emergency Communications is seeking entry-level trainees to join the public safety communications team. You will learn emergency call-taking procedures, agency terminology, and how to gather critical incident details in a structured training environment.

Responsibilities include developing typing accuracy, mastering radio procedures, and studying geography and response jurisdictions while under supervision and completing assessments and milestones as part of your training path.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or recognized equivalent is commonly required.
• Candidates should have basic computer skills and clear communication.
• Willingness to receive feedback and possibly customer service experience may be useful.

Responsibilities

• Learn emergency call-taking procedures and agency terminology
• Practice confirming locations and gathering essential incident details
• Develop accurate typing and computer-aided dispatch skills
• Study service-area geography, maps, and response jurisdictions
• Learn radio procedures and unit-status monitoring
• Observe and perform assigned duties under supervision
• Complete assessments, coaching sessions, and training milestones
• Learn confidentiality, security, and professional-conduct requirements
