Job summary

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship; 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Wisconsin driver's license.
• No felony convictions.
• Excellent communication skills including ability to hear, speak, write and understand written, verbal and audio/visual media in English.
• Ability to sit for long periods and work in an enclosed area.
• Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal orders and policies; think and react quickly.
• Keyboard skills with the ability to type at least 35 words per minute; experience with computers.

Responsibilities

• Answer 9-1-1 calls and provide information to Police, Fire, EMS and other personnel.
• Monitor radio and teletype traffic; respond to direct-line alarms and NOAA weather alerts.
• Test emergency personnel radio, paging systems, and related devices.
• Work nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as shifts require.
• Undergo interviews, practical exams, medical, psychological and background checks; complete one-year probation.
