Job summary

The Town of Kernersville, NC, seeks a dedicated Communications Center Telecommunicator for the Police Department. You will receive emergency and non-emergency calls, relay information to officers via a multi-channel radio system, and assist the public while maintaining composure under pressure.

You will enter data in the CAD system, monitor video security, coordinate with state and federal agencies, and participate in training new telecommunicators.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate clearly and remain calm under stress.
• Ability to multi-task and relay accurate information to responders.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications within one year (DCI modules, notary, Sheriff’s Standards, CIT).

Responsibilities

• Operate multi-line telephone system for emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Enter data into CAD and maintain critical information in databases.
• Monitor police video security system and Doppler radar as needed.
• Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies via radio and data systems.
• Assist in training new telecommunicators; document progress.
• Dispatch officers and monitor officer status and safety signals.
