Job summary

Northampton County is seeking a Telecommunicator/Dispatcher to serve as the emergency call-taker for the PSAP, dispatch police, fire, and EMS, and operate NCIC/CLEAN. The role requires handling 911 and non-emergency lines in a 24/7 operation, adhering to SOPs, and maintaining confidentiality.

Candidates must pass exams, be available for all shifts including nights and weekends, and complete APCO/EMD training. Strong communication, data entry accuracy, and stress management are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience in radio communications, call centers, or public safety preferred.
• Ability to type 25 wpm and perform high-volume data entry.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatch appropriate units.
• Operate CAD, GEO tools, and communicate clearly under stress.
• Maintain confidentiality and complete post-call documentation.
• Work rotating shifts including nights and weekends.
