The Town of Kernersville is seeking a part-time Telecommunicator to support the Kernersville Police Department. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of telecommunicator experience and DCI Modules 1–3 or is willing to obtain them during training.

The role requires a commitment of at least 24 hours per week during training and availability on days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities include handling emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching officers via a multi-channel radio

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of prior telecommunicator experience.
• DCI Modules 1, 2, and 3 certifications or willingness to obtain during training.
• Willingness to commit to at least 24 hours per week during training and work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsabilités

• Operate a multi-line phone system and multi-channel radio to dispatch officers.
• Enter calls into the CAD system and maintain critical information in the database.
• Monitor the Police Department video security system.
• Assist in training new telecommunicators and track progress.
• Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies as needed.
