The City of Burlington, NC, is hiring full-time Telecommunicators for its 24/7 Communications Center. You will handle 911 and non-emergency calls, dispatch responders, and maintain critical records. The role requires calmness under pressure, strong communication skills, and the ability to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends.

Minimum qualifications include U.S. citizenship, a high school diploma or GED, and relevant certifications or the ability to obtain them within six months.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience or certification in public safety dispatch is preferred.
• Ability to obtain NC DCI certification within six months and NC Sheriff's Standards telecommunicator certificate.

Responsabilités

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls and prioritize based on urgency.
• Dispatch police and fire units via multi-channel radio systems.
• Maintain accurate records of warrants and NCIC entries; use eWarrants.
• Coordinate multi-agency responses and ensure clear, timely communication.
